A Raleigh man has been charged with breaking and entering a towing company after recovering his vehicle from a previous drive during an impaired arrest, Sheriff Iredell Darren Campbell said.

Nathan Baird Gross, 48, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, theft of a motor vehicle, theft after breaking and entering, theft and breaking and entering, property infringement personal and first degree trespassing. A magistrate set the bond at $ 10,000.

Campbell, in a press release, said Gross was arrested Sunday by the Mooresville Police Department for DWI and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. His vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban, was towed by 3T Towing and secured in a fenced-in storage area at the company on Wallaces Grant Drive, Campbell said. Gross was released from prison and picked up by his wife at 5:02 a.m.

At 9 a.m., 3T Towing employees discovered that the fenced-in storage area and trade office had been broken into and several items had been blown away, including the Suburban, Campbell said.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified and, after gathering the information, MPs notified the Raleigh Police Department. Officers attended Gross’s residence and found the Suburban at his home, Campbell said.

Detective Melody Jennings investigated and, based on the evidence gathered, obtained warrants for Gross as well as a search warrant for his home, Campbell said. The Raleigh Police Department assisted and the Suburban, along with other evidence, was recovered, Campbell said.
