RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Richmond police are investigating a fatal shooting along the Richmond Freeway in On Time Towing.

Officers were called just before noon Monday to the 1900 block of the Richmond Freeway on March 21.

At the scene, officers found Jarrod Murray, 28, of Richmond, in the parking lot of On Time Towing with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene. No arrests were made.

An employee said the man showed up at the company because his car was towed to the lot. The employee added that the man was angry, there was an altercation and shots were fired. The police did not confirm this.

“Detectives have not released anything that could have led to any circumstances or motive,” Richmond police spokesman James Mercante said. “Usually after a day or two detectives will hopefully provide more information such as identification of the person who died and of course any charges or arrests being made.”

The police spent several hours, until late in the evening, at the scene.

“Detectives are investigating the case, they’ve interviewed witnesses who are at the scene, they’ve taken statements from company employees and others who witnessed the event, and they’re also looking into company video,” Mercante said.

Police would not say whether the shots were exchanged or how many shots were fired, but the employee said he heard multiple shots.

Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes Detective Mr. Gouldman at (804) 646-3915 or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
