Kevin and Janice Koch, second generation owners of Dave’s Towing Service, retired and closed the family business on March 31 after 47 years in Simi Valley.

Janice Koch’s parents, David and Beverly McCormick, purchased Simi Valley-based Harper Collins Towing in 1975. Soon it became Dave’s Club Service and later Dave’s Towing Service.

The McCormicks ran the business until 2006 when they retired and sold the business to Janice Koch and her husband, Kevin, who have been active in the business since 1982.

Janice and Kevin Koch continued the family tradition of operating an honest and professional towing business, a press release states, as well as giving back to the community by donating hours, vehicles and their storage area for the training and demonstrations.

Donations include vehicles for the Ventura County Fire Department to practice cutting with their new tools, storage yard for Simi Valley Police K-9s to practice search techniques, and vehicles for the program “Every 15 minutes”.

The Kochs’ two children, Angie and Andrew, got involved in the towing business early on. Angie worked as a dispatcher in the office; Andrew was a tow truck driver.
